Hi,

My name is Chris Kit I'm a student Interactive Design at the Graphic Lyceum Utrecht. Learn more about me.

I am

(Read it to me)

Christian Benjamin Kituantala (Chris Kit) and I was born in 1994 in Bukavu a average city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I fled in 2001 with my brother and mother to The Netherlands after the devasting civil war that was and still is happening in my country. Long story short I love The Netherlands it's an amazing country and I'm also close to other family members who live here in Europe.

Past (Read it to me)

Back in VMBO ( which is equivalent to middle school ) I didn't really know what I wanted to do or which direction to go to. When the school bought Imacs with Adobe Creative Suite 3 I became curious. When I saw the possibilities of Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign I then knew what I wanted to do. When I got into MBO (equivalent to high school) I choosed to study Digital Publishing since it was the direction I wanted to go to. I learned alot about Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. At the same time I was doing this study I became curious about webdesign. First I did small steps like: changing templates with basic HTML and CSS or making my own page with Adobe Dreamweaver. My curiosity and skills in webdesign grew overtime. I bought books from Jon Duckett a known developer. With the help of his books and ofcourse the internet I became a self thought front-end Developer by the time I started my studies (Interactive Design) at the Graphic Lyceum Utrecht.

Future (Read it to me)

I plan to continue my studies after this one because I want to know more and there's always more to know. When I'm done with school I want to aim high and try to become a great allround-developer or even one of the best in The Netherlands. I'm undesided about if I want to work in a company or start my own. But I see my self being succesfull in what I love doing and reaching my dreams.

See my portfolio.

    Assignment

Lekkerpittig is a school assignment. A food themed website for a non existing company by the same name.

    Client

    School

    Process

    Version 1

This is the first version I made and it was horrible. The colors and the design were not up to the standards so I didn't go any further on this design.

    Version 2

This design was made after I searched Awwwards for some inspiration on sites with food theme. THis design was acceptable so I continued with the development of it.

    End result

On the final product I made some adjustments to the design like the navigation. Mostly for responsive purposes. See for yourself

    Casa Cosi

    Assignment

The client needed a new design for their webshop. (This was from my former internship)

    Client

    Casa Cosi wonen

    Process

    Old design

The client wanted something new and unique to brighten up their webshop. But the company (were doing my intership) had their own CMS system where they make webshops and every shop they made had to have some standard styles for it to be put online. So, I had to make something satisfying for the client and also make it in a way that it could be used on the company's CMS system. Since I was new in the company I didn't know much about how their CMS works and how they do things, So a colleague helped me and thanks to him I made a clear start on the design.

    End result

On the final design I had to redesign the logo aswell and add/create USP's for the company. I kept the brown that was showing on the old design and added green to the 'go to action' buttons since both colors fits.

    PHP - PDF invoice

    Assignment

A co-worker of mine started his own company. He wanted me to design and develop his webshop including a invoice.

    Client

    Westley W. (Elite Luxury)

    Process

    Version 1

This is the first design I made which he also liked. But later this design was rejected because he wanted something easier for him self.

    PDF invoice

Before the first design was rejected I was bussy coding the PDF invoice through PHP. It was a extremely hard process but a nice experience for me since I never made a PDF with PHP.

    End result

I had to cancel the first design and the PDF invoice because the client wanted something easy for himself. We used Jimdo which is a site with its own CMS. That was easier for him to use and maintain. (He later canceled his website and used social media instead)

    Version 1

This is the first playlist I made, it could be better.

    Version 2

With this version I used the same coding as version 1 but changed things my way to fir the design.

    End result

I choose the 2nd audio player since it was more fitting and also had more possibilities than the first one.

    Folio magazine

    Assignment

    A folio magazine about ourself.

    Client

    Process

    The Contents

The most important things for me with this magazine were the contents. I needed to know with what kind of things and information I could fill the magazine with. I made the cover with a old surreal psd I had from a old school assignment which I tought would fit perfectly with the graphic design theme. I was mostly inspired by the magazine Publish and also Adobe CC,

    End result

The project was easy for me since it 'was' about me. I had complete freedom about the design and content.

    Printbuyer

    Assignment

Make a magazine with Adobe Indesign.

    Client

    School

    Process

Step one had to be the cover. Since printbuyer was a real magazine I didn't have to make a report about the target audience or the theme. I used a real one to help me with the design of the school assignment.

    Assignment

    Advertising products through banners

    Client

    School

    Process

The two products I needed to advertise were both electronic devices. So I used the webshop of a known webshop for electronic items as a dummy. I coded most of the page to make it feel more realistic.

The banners were made with Adobe EdgeAnimate CC. Thanks to Edgeanimate the banners were easy done. But to design them I had to orientate myself about the product. Mostly by looking at their commercials.

    End result

The dummy site is sadly not responsive but it does fit well for my banners. See here

    Assignment

This assignment was linked to a school project but was for a real client. I had to make a box for the client's product. It had to be childfriendly and playful for kids under the age of 12.

    Client

    Rudy Papo (Ludus Concepts)

    Process

    The product

The product is a pitcher, which is used to aim and shoot elastic. First I started taking measures of the product. Then I brainstormed about the product and its targetted audience.

    The Box

My idea was "What if I make a box which could be used as the target for this product? Which is also a second toy for the product." I received a 'GO' on the idea and continued making a box which children wouldn't throw away but play with instead.

    End result

On the design I was free to make a fitting logo for the product aswell. On the final design you could open the wings and shoot inside the box or open the targets to shoot at it or through the wings. The box has atleast 4 possibles and ofcourse its main purpose of serving as a target. For more info on the product go to Ludus Concepts.

    My Design

Before we started designing the cards we had to come up with a slogan. I came up with the slogan "Is this life?" after seeing a picture of children literally living in garbage which needs to change. My teammates liked the slogan, so each of us made their own design of the card with the slogan on it. This slogan is also a direct question. It gives more impact and depth on the wildcard. Making people more Conscious about the topic.

    End result

For the final product we choose my design. The backside was made by another teammember.

This is a special game designed by me for the donors. Everyone who donates would receive this game as a thank you (which can be seen as a second USP).
